Pegunugan Bintang Figure Confirms Two KKB Killed While Spying

Oksibil – Two members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), Metodius Uropmabin and Narius Oktemka, were shot dead by officers in Serambakon District, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Papua Pegunungan, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

The two KKB were known to have been spying on the movements of officers before the incident occurred.

A community figure from Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Agus, confirmed this information when contacted by telephone on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Agus explained that the two KKB members were known to actively attend KKB meetings, which aimed to plan attacks on civilians and officers in the area.

“The role of Metodius Uropmabin and Narius Oktemka was as spies for the KKB. They often collaborated with other KKB in supporting criminal actions in Pegunungan Bintang,” said Agus.

Regarding the issue circulating that two civilians were victims of shooting by officers, Agus firmly denied the claim. He said that the information was a hoax deliberately spread by the KKB and KKP in order to distort the facts and create negative opinions about the officers.

"The KKB and KKP often create false information to blame the officers. In fact, they are the main perpetrators who are disturbing the people in Papua. The officers act according to the law to protect the security of the residents," he said.

Agus also appealed to the public to be more careful about the information circulating and to ensure its validity before believing or spreading it. The security forces, Agus continued, continue to work hard to maintain a conducive situation in Pegunungan Bintang Regency.

This incident is part of the officers' efforts to take firm action against the KKB's actions that threaten the security and stability of the Papua region.
