Jayapura, Papua - Several community leaders, customary leaders, and youth figures have shown strong support for the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) in their efforts to eradicate the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the region.
In statements issued at various locations, Papua figures released a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to supporting the government's firm actions in maintaining security and stability in Papua.
One of the community leaders, Yusak Weyo from the Kopkaka Grand Tribe in Seradala, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan, spoke out against the frequent violent actions perpetrated by the KKB.
"The community is always haunted by fear due to the threats often carried out by the KKB," he said on Tuesday (23/4/2024).
In addition to Yusak, youth figure Absalom Kreway Yarisetouw also shared his perspective on the criminal group. He urged the community to uphold peace in Papua because security and prosperity in Papua are collective responsibilities, not just the responsibility of one party.
According to him, the KKB is the root cause of chaos in Papua. The group poses a real threat with various acts of violence that they continue to commit. The KKB is not only involved in attacking security forces but also civilians.
"Hence, we fully support every step taken by the government and security forces in taking decisive actions against the KKB," concluded Absalom.
The support from various Papua figures provides a positive boost to the law enforcement and security measures carried out by the TNI-Polri to ensure that Papua remains safe and peaceful from the threat of the KKB.
