Papua- Kalenak Murib or whose full name is Yonis Murib is an actor who escaped from the Class IIA Abepura Prison, Jayapura City, on July 12 2022.
He escaped while serving a 16 year prison sentence for his involvement in the attack on the Pirime Police in November 2012.
Since escaping from Abepura Prison, he allegedly went to Puncak Regency and joined the KKB led by Lekagak Telenggen. However, in this group, Kalenak often acted alone without coordination. Because of this, he was given customary sanctions.
The incident that recently emerged yesterday was an action carried out by Kalenak himself. This was conveyed directly by TPNPB-OPM Spokesperson Sebby Sambom that his death resulted in the shooting death of a security officer in Puncak Jaya Regency.
"We have received an official report from TPNPB Yambi, Puncak Jaya Regency, that they have succeeded in shooting one TNI member and resulting in the victim dying, among others suffering injuries," he said.
Sebby added that the action taken by Kalenak was not based on orders from TNPB-OPM headquarters, for this reason, Kalenak must be held accountable for what he did.
The TPNPB-OPM spokesperson explained that Kalenak, who was a member, never followed or listened to orders. "He always makes his actions as he pleases without direction from Headquarters," he concluded.
